What is it?

Morton’s neuroma refers to a condition in which a nerve in the foot becomes enlarged.

Signs and Symptoms

May include localised pain in the affected area at the ball of the foot, tingling, burning or numbness in the area and into the toes and increased pain whilst wearing shoes or walking/running.

What causes it?

Common causes of Morton’s neuroma are flat feet, abnormal foot mechanics and constricting footwear.

How is it treated?

A combination of footwear and orthotic therapy. If conservative treatment fails your podiatrist can refer you for cortisone injections or surgical review.
